S-Track vs L-Track vs SL-Track Massage Chairs Explained

The track decides where the rollers can reach. Here is the difference between S, L and SL tracks, who needs which, and which ROTAI chairs have an SL-track.

Quick answer: the track is the rail the rollers travel along. An S-track follows the curve of your spine from the neck to the lower back. An L-track carries on under the seat to the glutes and thighs. An SL-track does both: it follows the S-curve of the spine and then continues under the seat. If you sit for long hours or feel tension in your hips, choose an SL-track. In the ROTAI UK range, the RT6891, S56Pro and A68Pro have one.

The three track types

  • S-track: shaped like the natural S-curve of the spine. The rollers stay close to the body from the neck down to the lower back, then stop.
  • L-track: runs down the back and then turns under the seat, so the rollers also reach the glutes and the top of the thighs.
  • SL-track: combines the two. It follows the S-curve along the spine and continues under the seat, giving the longest coverage.

Who needs an SL-track?

  • People who sit for long hours, at a desk or behind the wheel, and feel it in the lower back, glutes and hips.
  • Taller users, because a longer track gives the rollers more room to cover the whole back.
  • Anyone who wants one chair to cover the whole back and hips without moving position.

If your tension is mainly in the neck and shoulders, track length matters less than how well the roller adjusts. The ROTAI A39 has a 3D roller that adjusts in width from 3.5 cm to 20 cm, with Neck Stretch and Shoulder Release programs.

Questions about massage chair tracks

What is an SL-track massage chair?

A chair whose rollers follow the S-shaped curve of the spine and then continue under the seat, so they reach the neck, back, lower back, glutes and the top of the thighs.

Is an SL-track better than an S-track?

It covers more of the body. If you want the glutes and hips massaged as well as the back, an SL-track is the better choice. If you only need the neck and back, an S-track can be enough.
